John and Peggy Newman moved from Epsom to London aroun 1784, taking with them their five sons: John the Younger, Thomas, Henry Hugh, Hugh and William. They settled in Lambeth and Newington on the very borders of Surrey and the City of London, where from time to time they probably lived as well. After their departure from Epsom, Peggy bore four daughters: Elizabeth Ann, Elizabeth Mary Anne, Ann Mary and Maria Susannah.
